Want To Lose Weight? Keep Away
From The Bathroom Scales!
By Simon

Some of you persist in pursuing the sport of bathroom 'scale-hopping',
often more frequently than you actually exercise!
Some of you still believe that the proof you need, to ensure that your
exercise program is working for you, lies in what these scales read.
This 'ain't' necessarily so...
If your clothes are feeling looser, your body measurements are reducing
and the reflection that greets you in the mirror looks smaller, then you
ARE making progress!
If you step on the scales once a week and see gradual weight loss then
this is an added bonus.
BUT the scales can lie too, if you don't seem to be losing weight!
Much of this can be blamed on water.
Your body can retain water if you are dehydrated, giving the impression
that your weight has stalled.
Many of you spend 90% of the time dehydrated. I am constantly telling my
clients to drink more fluids on a daily basis, and when they start
sweating during exercise they can potentially become even more
dehydrated, especially if they're not topping up their fluids
sufficiently.
And I'm NOT talking about taking a couple of sips during exercise. When
I do my own training I can often get through a 2 litre bottle of water
within 1 hour! For the average exercise session I expect people to drink
at least 2 pints within that hour.
Stepping on those bathroom scales can be more trouble than it's worth.
Don't let it be.
Instead, drink more water every day and focus on other signs of success.
Focus on how your clothes fit. Focus on how you look and feel. Rather
than stepping on the scales daily, keep a track of how your clothes fit
each morning instead.
If your clothes are getting looser, what the scales say shouldn't
matter. Focus on your nutrition plan, keep exercising regularly and stay
off of the scales for a while. Stick to these rules and you should see
change next time you 'hop-on'.
